Hi! My name is Cheryl Yasenchack, and I would like to welcome you to Northern Lights Collies. I live on a small farmstead in rural North Dakota with my daughter, Alyza, and my son, Gabriel.. Together, we enjoy the wide open spaces, clean air, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets of this spectacular state.

My love affair with collies began many, many years ago, when I was just a small child playing on my cousin's farm. They had two beautiful collies, and I think each of us privately believed, that they were our own special, best friends. These collies were gentle, loving souls, and always ready to put up with our childish antics. Never a growl, never a nip.....and certainly never a cross word! They would endlessly follow us, patiently watching us and protecting us with their natural herding instinct. When they felt we had strayed too far from home into the endless acres of farmland, they would start barking nervously, and dancing around in circles, begging us to follow them back home. For some reason.....we always took their advice.

Many years have passed since spending time on my cousin's farm, but I have never forgotten the special bond I felt for their collies, and I have remained in awe of this spectacular breed all these years. I dreamed of owning and breeding collies for many years, but life was hectic, and I was forced to put my dreams on hold...until now. I finally have the time, and the room to specialize in producing the best quality collies that I possibly can, and work towards making my dream come true.

Thanks to a wonderful friend, and mentor, Top Canadian Breeder Susan Minard, of Prairie Pine Collies, I have started out on the right track. She has given me the foundation to start a breeding program of my own. With her guidance, honesty and expertise, I know I can't go wrong. Also, I must give special thanks and sincere appreciation to breeder Denise Melby, who put her faith and trust in me by allowing me to purchase one of her beautiful collies. Both are wonderful women, who possess the integrity, compassion, and honesty it takes to make an exceptional breeder.

My goal is to produce collies that are sound in temperament and health, as well as having exquisite beauty. I don't want to just provide people with a pet.....I want to provide them with a friend for life, which is what the collie truly is. This is a breed of dog that is unsurpassed in it's ability to love. They are gentle in nature, adapt well to almost any situation, are accepting of other pets, and they are a wonderful companion to any child. This is a wonderful breed and I would love the opportunity to share them with you!
